Chat-GPT released a new update a few days ago with an enhanced image generator which can now essentially create designs based off a prompt and references images.
Ironic, that one of animations most beloved and visually stunning artist’s work is being reduced to AI waste. Yet that’s what people are doing on the internet. Taking images and prompting their AI chat bot to “make it in Studio Ghibli style”.
The tech bros, on the other hand, who only wished to be as creative as the classmates they made fun of for drawing in class, were drooling all over their timelines on Wednesday evening with this new development.
But my eyes were welling with tears as I was looking at these horrible people who thought this was revolutionary and good. Who didn’t think about all those whose work and skill they were stealing from. Those who labored for hours to create the first version of the slop they’ve mutilated from a robot.
Jacob “Reinventing Business With AI | Ex Microsoft, Air BnB and Uber | AI Entrepreneur and Leader” YOU PISS ME OFF, YOUR GENERATED GARBAGE IS STEALING MY JOB AND YOU’RE TOO SOULLESS TO CARE.
These smug, jealous people who couldn’t stand being inferior at these creative things their mechanical brains couldn’t understand. They had to go and make something that could replicate “art” for them just so they could feel good about themselves but mask it as “as beneficial technology for society”.
Creating this lifeless, soulless “art”, this is not what AI was meant for. AI is incredible and powerful and can aid in treating illnesses and help people communicate from different countries and detect cancer and all this other good and beneficial stuff. It should be used sparingly in fact, for it is killing the Earth. And if we are going to be using it at all and at the current rate we are, then why are we letting it touch what is the only soulful part of humanity left?
The only people who want to use AI for “art” are those who don’t value and care about it. They’ve never understood the art kid. They’ve never understood why people liked the art kid or what they made. They just hated that the art kid was better than them at something, and not something that can be taught or learned. But innately something they were good at. Innately, better than you.
Contempt brought AI into art, but the mask of the robot doesn’t hide the fact that you, in fact, are still not creative, and will never be. That work is a generation of others hands and minds. You are simply an imposter, a fraud.
Creativity cannot be generated. Talent, cannot be generated. Expertise and originality most definitely cannot be generated.
So all we have is the process.
This is my call to all artists——— designers, painters, sculptors, photographers and every other creator creating things that are not generated. Record your process. Take photos of your process. This is your proof of life. This is the evidence of your mind driving the force behind your hands to create something the world hasn’t seen before. That only you can dream up and create.
And yes this can be stolen too and there are a thousand other problems with recording and yada yada yada but for now this is the only way you can show that what you made was created from your fingertips and your brain. Not someone else’s whose got transfigured into a robots algorithm and spit out through a chat bot.
This is your ticket to defend your work. To attract an audience who cares, clients and customers who care that what they buy and who they hire doesn’t generate, they create.
There will be so many people and so many companies that do not care about having a human make them designs and jobs will be cut and people will be fired.
But there will be some who still care. There will be some who value the human hand creating art full of life and soul.
And for those, we rejoice.
Keep making art. Real art. For nothing will forego the voice of the human hand.
For anyone interested I currently use this free app to record my screen while doing design. It has been very beneficial to me gaining a trusted audience of people who care about art and design. I hope you use it to do the same 🙂❤️
Well said.
